Supporting over 500 people aged 55+ living in Burmantofts

Improving digital inclusion and access to support

Promote social inclusion for all communities

Relieving social isolation and loneliness

Every year Burmantofts Community Friends supports over 500 people aged 55+ living in Burmantofts
and the surrounding areas.

Working with our older people, their families, carers, and communities, we reduce social isolation and tackle poverty issues amongst our community, enabling them to live the best life possible.

What We Do

The older people on which we focus our support, often have limited social opportunities.

Many of our members are living with loneliness, isolation, long-term health conditions and have been badly impacted by the pandemic and the cost-of-living crisis. Alongside our targeted work with older people, we also engage with families, carers, young people, and the diverse communities of East Leeds, through partnership and intergenerational projects.

We deliver a broad programme of weekly activities, support, and services to enable people aged 55+ to live independently and safely in their own homes and to reduce poverty and isolation.

We have a lot of activities going on and we get different people coming every day, because different people like different things. Some people come to everything.
